Okowa committed to equity, fairness - IDU President ~ Truth Reporters

The president general of the social - cultural Apex organization of Isoko Nation, Isoko Development Union (IDU), Professor Chris Akpotu, has commended the governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his commitment to equity and fairness.

Akpotu gave the commendation while speaking to journalists at IDU Secretariat Oleh, Isoko South local government area of Delta State, following the emergence of Hon. Ferguson Onwo as the Majority Leader, Delta State house of Assembly.

He thanked the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sherrif Oborevwori and the Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in the State, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso for their efforts towards giving the position back to the Isoko nation.

The president general stated that the union had a discussion with the governor and the leadership of the party to oblige the Isoko people the privilege of retaining the position of the Majority Leader that was made vacant by the demise of Hon. Tim Owhefere.

Akpotu maintained that Governor Okowa was able to allay the fears of losing such an office, noting that, It was a clear demonstration that the governor is committed to equity and fairness whenever the need arises.

"We are quite happy with him and we want to see that the Isoko people are committed to that kind of partnership with him because he has demonstrated again that he has the Isoko people at heart in the course of administering the state.

He reiterated that the entire Isoko people feel highly elated because it is a landmark achievement. "For us, it is an office that we must celebrate. My message to the Isoko people is to be hopeful; it is a sign of so many good things to come", he said

He further stated that "Ferguson Onwo is an illustrious son of Isoko that we hold in high esteem. We have so much confidence on him to be able to deliver on the good as far as that office is concerned."
