Delsu Alumni: Koyoyo writes new VC, Andy Egwunyenga ~ Truth Reporters

Concerned Delsu Alumnus and entrepreneur, Mr Robinson Koyoyo has written an open letter to the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Delta State University Abraka, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga as he assumes office Dec. 1.

Koyoyo in the letter titled "Delta State University, Alumni and the Need to Address Crucial Issues" drew the attention of the new VC to the factionalisation of the University's Alumni Association which he noted had impacted negatively on it's performance.

He congratulated Prof. Egwunyenga on his appointment and urged him to use his good office to bring the factions together in order to realise the aim of setting up the Alumni association.

The letter reads in part:

"I congratulate you on your well-deserved appointment as the Vice Chancellor of our prestigious Delta State University, Abraka. Your appointment was greeted with widespread jubilation from different quarters across the State which is an attestation of your capacity..

"Your records as Director of ISLT and Rector Ogwashi Uku Polytechnic amongst others, speaks for itself. I have no doubt that as you assume office as the Vice Chancellor of my prestigious Alumni; you will bring your years of experience to bear in addressing issues touching on the School and ultimately the subject matter.

"As you settle into your new office, may I with the utmost respect draw your attention to a crucial issue bothering on the National Alumni body of the University. There exists a factional national body of the University’s Alumni which has undoubtedly impacted negatively on the image of the University Community and its Alumni members.

"The role of Alumni associations cannot be over emphasized in the development of any University community in terms of support and giving back to one’s Alma Mater. It is on this premise that I enjoin you to bring the foregoing issue to the front burner and include it as part of your agenda for the University.

"Delta State University has over the years produced great minds that have made and continue to make tremendous impacts in their respective fields; economic and socio-political spheres of the Country. Hence as a precursor, I suggest that you bring together the National Alumni body as to annex her human and material resources which is aimed at advancing the development of the University community as obtainable in similar institutions/bodies.

"I have strong confidence in your leadership abilities to reclaim the lost glory of the University as well as its Alumni Association. Kindly, see this as a passionate request and cause an investigation to be carried out into the issues bedeviling the Alumni, with a view to addressing and repositioning same for optimal performance." he stated
