Ex-PG of Enhwe, Chief Ogodo, Donates 120 Chairs to Enhwe Comprehensive High School ~ Truth Reporters

In a bid to support students of Enhwe Comprehensive High School, Enhwe, a prominent son of Enhwe Kingdom and former President-General of the community, Chief Michael Ovie Ogodo, has donated 120 chairs worth millions of naira to the school in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

It would be recalled that there was recently a public outcry on various social media platforms across Isoko Nation over reports that students of the school were sitting on bare floors during classes. The donation, therefore, comes as a major relief and succour to the students.

Five years ago, Chief Ogodo also extended a similar gesture to Oviota Primary School, Enhwe, in collaboration with Enhwe indigenes in the diaspora, where chairs worth millions of naira were donated to the pupils.

Speaking in a telephone interview with newsmen, Chief Michael Ovie Ogodo described his relationship with the school as longstanding and impactful.

“My association with Enhwe Comprehensive High School is very historical.

This should be about the fifth time we are donating chairs to the school. Between 2015 and 2019, I hired English and Mathematics teachers and personally paid their salaries,” he said.

He added, “Education shaped my life. I do not joke with education. God brought me from Enhwe for a reason, and I believe I should give back to my community. The best way I can do that is through education.”

Chief Ogodo advised the students to take their education seriously and to properly maintain the chairs and other school infrastructure.

Receiving the donated chairs on behalf of the school, the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council, Hon. Friday Ovoke Warri, an old student of the institution, expressed appreciation to Chief Ogodo for his generosity.

He noted that although Chief Ogodo is not a politician, he has consistently used the resources God blessed him with to improve the welfare of students in the community.

Hon. Warri also urged the students to make good use of the chairs and avoid any actions that could lead to their damage.

In his remarks, the Principal of Enhwe Comprehensive High School, Mr. Ilah Obolerhiri Jonathan, commended Chief Ogodo for coming to the aid of the school at a critical time.

However, he lamented the security challenges facing the school, revealing that hoodlums and thieves have been stealing and vandalising school infrastructure.

 He appealed to the local government chairman and community stakeholders to assist in building lodges for the principal and corps members to enable them reside within the school premises for improved security.
