Two Years in Office: Ukodhiko’s Bills, Empowerment Drive Transform Isoko Federal Constituency ~ Truth Reporters

Member representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. (Pst.) Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, has rolled out his scorecard, highlighting major legislative interventions, constituency projects, and empowerment programmes delivered in his first two years at the National Assembly.

 

Ukodhiko, who came into the Green Chambers in 2023, said his mission has been to attract development to the Isoko nation while ensuring their voice is strongly represented in Abuja.

 

Legislative Impact

In the period under review, he has sponsored and co-sponsored several motions and bills of national importance. His motion compelling oil and gas companies to end gas flaring and convert same into 24-hour electricity supply for Isoko and its environs is under review by the House compliance committee. His motion for the rehabilitation of failed sections of the East-West Road has also led to ongoing reconstruction works by the Federal Government.

 

The lawmaker equally sponsored multiple bills seeking to establish key institutions in Delta State, including the Federal Medical Centre Oleh, Federal University of Agriculture Erawha-Owhe, Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery Owhelogbo, and a Federal College of Education (Technical) in Oleh. Other bills focused on renewable energy, entrepreneurship, and strengthening research and technology incubation in Nigeria.

 

Significantly, his amendment to the University Teaching Hospital Act has passed third reading and awaits Senate concurrence. He also co-sponsored a constitutional amendment bill that seeks to synchronize all national, state, and local government elections.

 

Constituency Projects and Empowerment

Ukodhiko’s stewardship has attracted and executed projects worth billions of naira across Isoko North and South. In the 2024 Appropriation Act, the constituency secured N200 million for capital projects, N113 million for zonal intervention projects, and N40 million for outreach initiatives.

 

Completed projects include solar-powered streetlights in Eniagbedhi, Erawha, and Owodokpokpo; supply of medical equipment to primary health centres in Isi-Emevor, Otor-Igho, Okpe-Isoko, Edherie, and Orie; N20 million worth of desks to schools across the constituency; and construction of classroom blocks in Owodokpokpo and Olomoro.

 

He has also facilitated empowerment initiatives such as N60 million skill acquisition training for women, entrepreneurial training with N100,000 start-up grants for 200 participants, and the N113 million zonal employment scheme that trained youths in ICT, tailoring, POP installation, and photography. Beneficiaries received financial support ranging from N200,000 to N250,000.

 

Humanitarian and Social Welfare

Beyond infrastructure, Ukodhiko introduced a revolving monthly financial support scheme for 450 elderly persons and individuals with disabilities, providing N5,000 each. Over 70 constituents are on his monthly stipends, while hundreds of students have benefitted from free JAMB enrollment and CBT training.

 

During the 2023 and 2024 festive seasons, he reached out to over 7,500 households with rice, noodles, beans, salt, and other relief materials. He also facilitated NEMA’s intervention for flood victims and distributed fertilizers to farmers to boost agricultural output.

 

Education and Employment

Through his scholarship scheme, ten students from Isoko are currently studying law, engineering, medicine, and pharmacy at Madonna University on full tuition awards. Several constituents have also secured permanent jobs in federal agencies and private companies through his intervention.

 

Ongoing and Future Projects

In 2025, Ukodhiko has already executed fresh empowerment programmes for fish and pig farmers, providing livestock, feeds, and financial grants. He also installed 30 solar streetlights in Ada-Irri and continues to attract federal presence to Isoko land.

 

Reflecting on his achievements, Ukodhiko said: “Our people deserve quality representation, and I will continue to use my office to attract meaningful projects, pass relevant bills, and ensure that the Isoko nation takes its pride of place in national development.”
