Akpoveta Congratulates Okoro, Orogun Poly Pioneer Rector ~ Truth Reporters









Dr Akpoveta Vincent, a Senior Academic in the field of Chemistry and CEO Dr Akpoveta Foundation has congratulated Dr Duke Okoro on his well deserved appointment as the pioneer Rector, Federal Polytechnic Orogun, Delta State by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Dr Akpoveta in his congratulatory message described Dr Okoro who is also a very senior and experienced academic in the field of Chemistry as an amiable, complaisant, good-natured and well-disposed individual.

"One with a very good heart who takes the necessary courage in always addressing challenging issues of those around him. He is always at the fore front of protecting and defending the interest of those around him.

Dr Duke Okoro, an environmental analytical chemist had his first degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Federal University of Technology, Akure in Ondo State (1995) and later proceeded to the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State where he bagged an Msc and a PhD in Environmental Analytical Chemistry in 2000 and 2004 respectively.

He started his career as an Environmentalist consulting for firms in the oil & gas sector before he joined the Delta State University, Abraka as a Lecturer I in 2006. Two years later, Dr Duke Okoro transferred his service to the Department of Chemistry, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun.

He has taught Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels for the many years. He has to his credit over twenty-seven academic research papers in both national and international indexed journals.

Dr D. Okoro has attended so many national and international conferences and symposia where he presented one or two papers. Dr Okoro had a break from the academia in 2013 to focus on application chemistry and the environmental industries where he has developed lots of laboratory methods and partook in studies for Dukoria International Limited (an Environmental & Laboratory Consultancy firm).

He has driven innumerable phases of different environmental studies in the Oil & Gas sector ranging from EIA, PIA, EER and High Risk Analysis as both field and laboratory consultant including report writing. Dr D. Okoro had certificate training in the following: GIS Training "KnowGIS Training Series" by Global Positions, LLC, Bozeman, MT, USA (2015); Environmental Project Management by ECO Academy, Calgary, Canada (2014); Technical Report Writing by ECO Academy, Calgary, Canada (2014); Professional Communication by ECO Academy, Calgary, Canada (2015); Environmental Consulting 101 by ECO Academy, Calgary, Canada (2015); Air Pollution Meteorology, Modeling and Monitoring (1.8 CEUs) by Global Innovative Campus, Calgary, Canada (2014); Bow-Tie Risk Analysis course by DNV, Calgary Canada (2011); HAZOP Certificate by British Safety Council (2011); Certificate in National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) - Alberta Equivalence of NEBOSH (2013).

Dr Duke Okoro is a Member of the following professional bodies: Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria; Fellow of the Nigerian Environmental Society; Member of the Institute of Chartered Chemist of Nigeria; Member of the International Panel on Chemical Pollution. Dr D. Okoro was reinstated as a senior lecturer in Chemistry Department, Federal University of Petroleum Resources in 2018. He loves playing Chess, swimming and soothing. He is happily married with children.
