Idisi carpets NNPC over alleged discovery of oil at Gongola Basin ~ Truth Reporters




Former member of House of Representatives Hon. Chief Lovette Idisi has lambasted the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) over alleged discovery of oil in the Gongola basin of Bauchi State.

Chief idisi in a press statement yesterday said the recent brouhaha concerning the discovery of oil in the north is not a new development.

He stated that his father, Late Chief Humphrey Idisi was one of the pioneers of local content participation in Nigera before the signing of the NCDMB bill into law shortly after his demise on 2010.

"My father was actually one of the first to mobilize his land drilling rig to Bauchi state over 20years ago and the oil found at the time was not of commercial quantity.

"Let the NNPC disclose to the general public how commercially viable the oil found in the north before this is politically used as a tool to begin to undermine the southern part of this country in carrying out its corporate social responsibilities owed to the good people of the Niger Delta especially the ogoni clean up and provision of drinking water in that region.

He added that we the South South should celebrate our own great Chief Humphrey Idisi of blessed memory by turning out in large numbers to celebrate an icon, a colossus, a guru in the oil and gas sector and one of the finest drillers and tool pusher spdc first trained in this country.

Chief Idisi also added that late Chief Idisi was one of the first indigenous Nigerians who ventured into the drilling business and brought in oil rigs from German Venezuela and recently lousiana in the United States of America.

Chief idisi while speaking stated the 13% derivation to the region cannot be swept under the carpet by our very own Chief James Ibori who was instrumental to this cause.

He called on the federal Government to look into the banking sector and to review their lending rates for genuine and credible business men as against the double digit lending rate which is designed to kill any small business while the banks makes incredible gains from interst rate at the expense of killing small businesses.

He also used the medium to invite all good willing sons and daughters of Urhobo land to come and celebrate an icon, a God fearing man, a father of many children on the 9th of Nov. at his resting place at Oviore Delta State by 11am and thanksgiving service at RCCG Goshen Parish Osubi Delta State.
