Funkekeme congratulates Oborevwori on guber primary victory ~ Truth Reporters

The Senior Political Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Funkekeme Solomon, has congratulated the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on his overwhelming victory in Wednesday's governorship primaries.

Funkekeme, in a message, said the emergence of the Speaker, with a wide margin of votes against his opponents, only confirmed that he was undoubtedly the best and generally accepted candidate for the Delta governorship position.

He described the governorship candidate as a team player, exemplified by his firm control of the State Assembly where he was reputed to be the longest serving Speaker of the House, adding that Oborevwori had been a loyal and committed party man with a great sense of responsibility.

The Senior POLAD thanked the State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, for creating the enabling environment for the aspirants to test their popularity and acceptability, noting that the peaceful, orderly and transparent contest vindicated the Governor, who had consistently assured that the primaries would be free and fair.

He urged Oborevwori to be magnanimous in victory by extending the hand of fellowship to his opponents, insisting that the primary election was a family affair which should not breed acrimony among party members.

Funkekeme also congratulated the other governorship aspirants for seeking to be the state's number one citizen beyond 2023, pointing out that they were all eminently qualified to govern the state, but that only one winner could emerge in any contest.

The Senior POLAD said with the conclusion of the primaries for all the elective positions in the state, it behoved all party faithful to remain united for the prosecution of the electioneering campaigns to enable the party maintain its winning streak in the 2023 general elections.
