2027: Oweh Charges Emevor APC to Deliver Tinubu, Oborevwori, Others ‘5/5’ ~ Truth Reporters

 

The Chairman of the Delta State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Paul Oweh, has charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Emevor Ward 7, Isoko North Local Government Area, to deliver the party’s candidates across all five elective positions in the 2027 general elections.

Oweh, who gave the charge while addressing party leaders and members in the ward on Sunday, said the APC had completed its processes and produced candidates for the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.

He listed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the APC presidential candidate; Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as the governorship candidate; Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas as the Delta South senatorial candidate; Pastor (Engineer) Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko as the House of Representatives candidate for Isoko North/South Federal Constituency; and Engineer Orobosa Ashakah as the party’s State House of Assembly candidate.

Oweh said the five candidates had emerged through the party’s established primary processes and urged members not to discriminate among them on the basis of personal preferences.

“We already have our five candidates. If the President is the candidate, go there and vote for him. Don’t be fooled.

“Our governorship candidate for Delta State is our sitting governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori. Our senatorial candidate is Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas. Our House of Representatives candidate is Pastor Engineer Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, while our House of Assembly candidate is Engineer Orobosa Ashakah.

“These five were chosen after rigorously going through the processes of the primaries. They are the candidates of our party, and I want to inform you, my people, that these are the people we are going to vote for — five over five,” he said.

The board chairman said the interest of the party, constituency, state and country should supersede individual preferences, stressing that APC members must stand firmly behind whoever emerged through the party’s recognised processes.

“I will not belong to any school that says this one is good and this one is bad. We have chosen them through our agreed processes. They are doing the best they can in their various capacities.

“In the best interest of everyone, in the best interest of our constituency, our state and our country, I urge all persons from this ward to vote for APC candidates across the board,” he said.

On the restoration of the previously suppressed State Constituency in Isoko North, Oweh described the development as a major political and representational breakthrough for the people.

He recalled that Isoko North had, for years, operated with only one State Constituency despite having 13 federal wards, following the suppression of the second constituency.

According to him, successive political leaders and stakeholders in Isoko North had made concerted efforts to reverse the situation, culminating in the recent court judgment restoring the constituency.

“To God be the glory, I can announce to you with certainty that the court has ruled in favour of that constituency and that constituency has been released,” he said.

Oweh disclosed that the State Resident Electoral Commission had invited stakeholders from across Isoko North to a meeting last week on the implementation of the court judgment.

He said the commission made it clear that its responsibility was to implement the court order by undertaking the proper delineation of the restored constituency.

He added that the new constituency would comprise six wards drawn from different communities in Isoko North, while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was already taking steps to ensure that its primary election was conducted in sufficient time for the emergence of a candidate for the 2027 election.

Oweh expressed optimism that the restoration of the constituency would ease the pressure associated with political representation in Isoko North and give more communities the opportunity to produce a representative.

He, however, urged political stakeholders to approach the process with maturity and a spirit of brotherhood, saying the leadership would have to reach an understanding on how the new constituency would be managed.

He also declared that whoever emerged as the APC candidate for the new constituency would receive the support of the party members.

“However it goes, the candidate that shall emerge is the one we will also vote for in the elections,” he said.

Oweh further cautioned APC members and aspirants against defecting to smaller political parties merely because they failed to secure the APC ticket.

He said while members were free to pursue their political ambitions within the party, abandoning the APC after losing an internal contest could undermine the collective strength of the party.

Meanwhile, APC leaders in Emevor Ward 7 expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction of the Emevor-Orogun Road, describing the project as one of the visible dividends of the Oborevwori administration.

The leaders commended Governor Oborevwori for what they described as his commitment to infrastructure development and the delivery of democratic dividends to Emevor and other communities across Delta State.

They pledged to mobilise massive support for the APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, saying their decision was informed by the projects and interventions being delivered by the Oborevwori administration.

On the restored constituency, the leaders appealed to political stakeholders to adopt a rotational arrangement in choosing the representative, arguing that such an arrangement would ensure equity and give all communities within the constituency a fair opportunity to produce the lawmaker.
