Mama Yingi: Andaye Joins Oborevwori, Erijo, Others at Okpokounou as Mama Delta Visits Kpakiama ~ Truth Reporters

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, and the Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, were among dignitaries who attended the burial ceremony of Mrs. Beniyeregha Rose Yingi, who died at the age of 92, at Okpokounou, Burutu Local Government Area, on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Mrs. Yingi was the mother of a respected elder statesman and former member representing Burutu Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Daniel Yingi.

Represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon. (Prince) Johnson Erijo, Governor Oborevwori condoled with the Yingi family and urged them to take solace in the impactful life of godliness, love and good neighbourliness which their matriarch exemplified during her lifetime.

Also speaking, the Bomadi Council Chairman, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, described the death of Mrs. Yingi as a profound loss, noting that her long and impactful life was a testament to the enduring values of motherhood, family and community.

While commiserating with Hon. Daniel Yingi and the entire family, Andaye urged them to draw strength from the remarkable legacy of their departed matriarch and the virtues she instilled in her children and those around her.

He further encouraged Hon. Yingi to remain strong and comforted by the cherished memories of his mother, assuring him that her legacy would continue to live on through her children, family and the wider community.

Shortly after the burial ceremony, Andaye, accompanied by Erijo and his wife, Hon. Mrs. Rejoice Andaye, returned to his country home in Kpakiama, where they received the First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, fondly known as Mama Delta.

The maiden visit of Mama Delta to the Andaye residence was marked by a colourful display of Ijaw culture and hospitality, as residents of Kpakiama turned out in large numbers to give her a warm and memorable reception.

The enthusiastic turnout reflected the love, admiration and respect the people of Kpakiama have for the First Lady, while the rich cultural performances showcased the beauty and heritage of the Ijaw people.

Expressing his appreciation, Andaye thanked the First Lady for honouring his family and the people of Kpakiama with her maiden visit. He described her presence as a deeply cherished moment and a reflection of the warmth, unity and togetherness that bind the people of Delta State.

The day’s engagements, which combined the solemn farewell of a revered matriarch with a warm reception for the First Lady, underscored the enduring values of family, culture, compassion and communal solidarity among the people of Delta State.
