Security: Andaye joins Delta South Council Chairmen to brainstorm at Patani ~ Truth Reporters

The Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, joined his counterparts from the eight Local Government Areas that make up the Delta South Senatorial District at the Delta South Zonal Security Meeting held in Patani, Delta State. 

The strategic meeting was convened by the Council Chairmen in recognition of their responsibility as Chief Security Officers of their respective Local Government Areas, with the shared objective of strengthening security coordination and preserving peace across the senatorial district.

The meeting brought together the Chairmen of Bomadi, Burutu, Isoko North, Isoko South, Patani, Warri North, Warri South and Warri South-West Local Government Areas, who undertook a comprehensive review of the prevailing security situation within the zone. Discussions centered on enhancing collaboration among the councils, improving intelligence sharing and evolving practical strategies to effectively tackle emerging security threats.

Also in attendance were Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) from the respective Local Government Areas, representatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF), the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Navy, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), vigilante formations and other critical security stakeholders, who jointly deliberated on practical measures aimed at reinforcing security architecture across Delta South.

Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye emphasized that security remains the foundation upon which meaningful development thrives, stressing that no society can attain sustainable growth in an atmosphere of insecurity. He commended the initiative of convening the zonal security meeting and called for sustained synergy among Council Chairmen, security agencies, traditional institutions and community leaders to ensure the continued safety of lives and property throughout the region.

Chairman Andaye further noted that the increasing sophistication of criminal activities demands a united and proactive response rather than isolated efforts. He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting security agencies through effective collaboration, timely interventions and policies that will continue to promote peace, stability and public confidence in Bomadi Local Government and Delta South at large.

The Council Chairmen unanimously agreed that the meeting was both timely and necessary, particularly in view of the need to sustain the relative peace currently enjoyed across the zone while confronting challenges such as kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, illegal bunkering, drug abuse and other forms of criminality. They resolved to strengthen inter-council cooperation through regular consultations and coordinated security initiatives.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment by all stakeholders to institutionalize the Delta South Zonal Security Meeting as a strategic platform for continuous engagement, intelligence sharing and coordinated responses to security challenges, with the overarching goal of fostering lasting peace, safeguarding communities and creating a secure environment for sustainable development across Delta South Senatorial District.
