Andaye appeals for tertiary education presence in Bomadi, as Oborevwori inaugurates 31km Ohoror-Bomadi road ~ Truth Reporters

The Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, has appealed to the Delta State Government ,.led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori , to kindly consider establishing a tertiary institution , preferably a University or Faculty , to catalyze socio-economic revival and enable the area unlock its potential .
Hon Andaye equally appealed for Governor Oborevwori's urgent intervention to address Bomadi's power supply challenges, as the local government area is not included in the original distribution architecture , thus leading to frequent outages and crippling the local economy .
The Bomadi Council Boss , made the appeal while speaking at the inauguration of the reconstructed 31 kilometre Ohoror-Bomadi road project , on Tuesday 17th March , 2026.
According to Hon Andaye, as the headquarters of the ljaw Nation, Bomadi is ready to unlock its potentials , adding that a tertiary institution in the area , would help drive economic growth and progress .
On the issue of epileptic power supply , the Council Chairman advocated for a direct line from Ughelli Sub-Station to Bomadi , as an antidote to end the vicious cycle, an action which he said , will boost production create jobs, and improve lives .
He however commended Governor Oborevwori for ending the people's over a decade of hardship by commissioning the 31 kilometre Ohoror-Bomadi Road project , a development which will spark hope , boost economic activities , trade , and access to healthcare , education , and social services.
Recalling the deplorable state of the road which had claimed hundreds of lives, with countless others falling victim to criminal activities like robbery, kidnapping , and violence , forcing the people to risk death each time they travelled, Hon Andaye emphasized that by rehabilitating this critical route which spans five local government areas, the Governor has addressed a major safety concern , restored dignity , and opened pathways for economic revival of the Bomadi people.
While inaugurating the project , Governor Oborevwori declared that his administration is deliberately rewriting the development story of riverine communities through massive infrastructure investments and people-oriented projects, policies, and programmes.
Oborevwori described the project which is a strategic corridor linking Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Patani, Burutu and Bomadi Local Government areas, as a major milestone in his administration's resolve to ensure equitable development across all parts of the state , particularly the historically underserved riverine areas
He noted that the road project would significantly boost socio-economic activities in the affected communities by improving connectivity , facilitating trade , and enhancing access to essential services .
The Governor emphasized that infrastructure development remains a critical driver of economic growth , noting that improved road networks would connect farmers to markets , attract investments and strenghten rural-urban migration .
Speaking on behalf of the people, community leaders and stakeholders including Hon Nicholas Mutu, Senator James Manager , Hon Oboro Preyor, HRM Pere Luke Kalanama and Mrs Flora Brisibe , among others, commended Governor Oborevwori for his inclusive governance style and total commitment to development , assuring him and President Bola Tinubu of their continued support and massive votes in the 2027 general elections .
The inauguration was heralded by various cultural dance displays by groups and other entertainment groups .
