UYLA Applauds Oborevwori’s Push for Riverine Devt ~ Truth Reporters

 

The Urhobo Youth Leaders’ Association (UYLA) has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, for what it described as a determined and impactful drive to transform riverine communities through strategic infrastructure development.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, and jointly signed by its National President, Chief (Amb.) Samuel Onoriode Oghotomo (JP), and National Secretary, Chief (Dr.) Augustine Ogheneovo Atiti (JP), the association praised the governor for placing long-neglected riverine areas at the forefront of his administration’s development agenda.

UYLA specifically highlighted the recent commissioning of the 31-kilometre Ohoror–Bomadi Road, describing it as a landmark project that is already reshaping the socio-economic landscape of the affected communities. 

The group noted that the road will significantly improve connectivity, ease movement, and unlock economic opportunities across multiple local government areas.

According to the association, the Oborevwori administration has shown uncommon political will in addressing the unique challenges posed by riverine terrain, which had historically slowed development. 

It stated that the current pace of infrastructure delivery signals a new era of inclusive governance in Delta State.

“This is purposeful leadership that restores hope to the people. For years, riverine communities were left behind, but today, there is clear evidence of deliberate and sustained development,” the statement noted.

The group further applauded the governor’s commitment to the MORE Agenda, stressing that its pillars of meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security are already translating into visible progress across the state.

UYLA also pointed to ongoing improvements in power supply, road networks, and security architecture, describing them as critical enablers of economic growth and improved living standards.

Reaffirming its support for the administration, the association urged Governor Oborevwori to maintain the current momentum and ensure that development initiatives are extended to all parts of the state.

It also called on Deltans to continue backing the government’s efforts to build a more inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous state.
