Delta South Rebirth Movement Unveiled in Warri ~ Truth Reporters

A new political advocacy group, the Delta South Rebirth Movement (DSRM), has been formally unveiled, signaling what its leaders describe as a renewed drive for purposeful political engagement and representation in the Delta South Senatorial District.

The Movement was officially announced on Wednesday, January 21, during its inaugural meeting held at the Warri Club in Warri South Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event, the Protem Coordinator of DSRM, Deacon Andrew Megbele, PhD, said the initiative was formed out of a compelling need to recalibrate political participation and leadership in the district.

Dr. Megbele explained that the primary objective of the Movement is to promote purposeful representation that responds directly to the unique socio-economic and developmental challenges facing Delta South.

He added that DSRM is also focused on fostering unity and accelerating both physical and human capital development across the district’s eight local government areas.

According to him, despite the ethnic diversity of Delta South, the people share deep cultural ties, economic potential, and a long history of resilience.

He noted that the Movement intends to harness these shared attributes to strengthen unity and enhance political leadership and representation in the senatorial district. “DSRM will spearhead advocacy for the unity of Delta South,” he said.

Dr. Megbele further stated that the realization of these goals informed the decision to bring together critical stakeholders and political grassroots actors under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to form the Movement.

He reaffirmed the Movement’s loyalty to the APC and pledged its unequivocal support for all party candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The Delta South Rebirth Movement also announced plans for extensive stakeholder consultations, leadership engagements, and grassroots mobilization across the district’s eight local government areas and 68 wards.

The strategy, according to the group, is aimed at ensuring a strong and victorious outing for the APC in 2027 and beyond.
