Asaba Peaceful, Investor-Friendly Under Asagba Azinge — Alibo Oliko ~ Truth Reporters

The Alibo of Asaba, Ogbueshi Paul Oliko, has assured residents and investors that Asaba remains peaceful and conducive for business under the headship of the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Professor Epiphany Chigbuogwu Azinge, SAN, OON.

Ogbueshi Oliko said the Asagba’s visionary leadership and influence have ensured that peace in the state capital is not compromised in any form, noting that no investor has shut down operations due to unfavourable business conditions.

Speaking to journalists in Asaba on the sidelines of the 2025 Asaba Day celebrations featuring the Asaba Economic Summit, Asaba Carnival and a thanksgiving service, among other activities, Oliko, a former President of the Delta State Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture (DACCIMA), said the economic summit was designed to sensitise potential investors.

According to him, the prevailing peace and stability in the city guarantee attractive returns on investments, while also positioning Asaba as a viable destination for new businesses.

He added that the summit also aimed to strengthen the town’s economic base by introducing emerging opportunities for youths, encouraging them to explore and develop themselves through small and medium-scale enterprises. 

He disclosed that, in addition to efforts by the state and local governments, the Asaba community annually supports petty traders with stipends to help grow their businesses.

Oliko described the maiden Asaba Carnival as a novel initiative flowing from the Asagba’s vision to project Asaba positively to the world, expressing satisfaction, in his capacity as Chairman of the Organising Committee, with the successful organisation of the event.

The Alibo commended indigenes and residents of Asaba for their peaceful conduct and obedience to the laws of the land, both at the state level and within the traditional institution headed by the Asagba. 

He assured that disputes brought before the Asagba-in-Council would always receive fair and peaceful resolution, noting that the community has multiple dispute-resolution channels that are equitable to all, regardless of tribe.

On corporate social responsibility (CSR), Ogbueshi Oliko revealed that the Asagba, Obi Professor Azinge, SAN, OON, has engaged several corporate organisations and industries operating within Asaba. 

He expressed confidence that these companies would scale up their CSR commitments to better reflect their presence and operations in the city.
