Oborevwori's entrance, a stabilizing factor for peace in Delta APC, affirms Okonji ~ Truth Reporters

The pioneer State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), Comrade Chidi Okonji , has attributed the pervading peace currently being enjoyed in the party , to the entrance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori alongside other prominent leaders of Delta PDP

He noted that the dust over the status of new members in relation to the ones on ground is finally settling , as the leadership of the party , led by Elder Omeni Sobotie, has emphasized time without number , that everyone has same rights and privileges, irrespective of when they joined the party

Speaking with journalists in Asaba, Comrade Chidi Okonji, a front runner for the State Chairmanship position in the forthcoming party Congress , said Governor Oborevwori,s exemplary leadership acumen has been brought to bear on the APC,s fortunes in the state since he moved from PDP, alluding that the Governor has greatly helped to foster a sense of unity and inclusivity among all members of the party

Going down memory lane , Okonji noted that in the formative years of Delta APC, Delta South Senatorial district held the Chairmanship position from 2013 to 2022, and due to the coming in of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori , the position of State Party Chairman should naturally be zoned to the North Senatorial district during the upcoming State congress of the party , to reinforce the equity mantra

The foremost State Party Chairmanship aspirant disclosed that he is currently consulting leaders and stakeholders of the party across the three Senatorial districts , to intimate them of his aspirations, adding that the reception he has received has been very encouraging

Okonji said his vision to improve the party,s electoral value , if elected as the next Chairman of the party in the State , revolves around strengthening the party,s structures at ward , local government , and state levels, ensuring effective communication and coordination among various organs and levels , improvement in membership registration and management by conducting a thorough and transparent membership drive , as well as ensuring free and fair party primaries and setting up of petition committees before the elections are held

Other innovations he intends to introduce , if elected as Party Chairman, include creating a biometric database to track members information , training and capacity building for party officials in order to get them adequately abreast of the party,s ideologies, leadership and governance modules, enhance strong financial standing of the party by exploring diverse funding sources , transparent financial management and accountability , in line with global best practices, and feed back mechanisms between members and the party , inclusivity in decision making processes , monitoring and evaluation of set goals , among others .

The former two-term State APC Secretary from 2013 to 2022 , who was also a Board Member of the Consumer Protection Council, said if given the mandate to serve as Chairman of the Party in Delta, he would carry all shades of interest , which include the old and new as well as , foundation members, along .
