Oborevwori Reaffirms Support for Education at MCIU 7th Convocation ~ Truth Reporters
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has restated his administration’s commitment to strengthening higher education in the state, particularly in the areas of human capital development, innovation and research.
Governor Oborevwori who was represented by the State Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Nyerhovwo Tonukari, disclosed this at the 7th Convocation Ceremony and 9th Annual Memorial Lecture of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU), Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
The colourful ceremony, held at the university’s Power of Faith Building Hall, drew together distinguished personalities, members of the academic community, parents, and well-wishers, who gathered to celebrate the graduating students and reflect on the institution’s growing contributions to knowledge and societal development.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Oborevwori, Professor Tonukari commended the management of MCIU for its steady progress and reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to create an enabling environment for universities and other higher institutions to thrive.
He noted that education remains central to the administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, particularly in the areas of human capital development, innovation, and research.
The convocation also featured the 9th Annual Memorial Lecture, which provided a platform for stakeholders to engage in discussions on the role of education in shaping the state’s future.
The event underscored the place of universities as engines of growth and progress, with participants expressing optimism that sustained investments in the sector will yield greater benefits for Delta State and beyond.
