Prof. Nwugo, Idumuesah Ward 10 Celebrate Dame Edith Okowa at 64 ~ Truth Reporters
The Executive Director of Operations, Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS), Professor Frank Onyisi Nwugo, and the entire Idumuesah Ward 10 community in Ika North East Local Government Area have felicitated with the wife of their leader, Dame (Dr.) Edith Okowa, as she marked her 64th birthday on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Describing the former First Lady of Delta State as a pillar of support and a woman of compassion, as epitomized by her O5 Initiative programme, Prof. Nwugo and the entire Idumuesah Ward 10 community acknowledged Dame Edith Okowa’s unwavering support to Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa during his two-term tenure as Governor of Delta State.
In a statement made available to the media, Prof. Nwugo stated unequivocally that Dame Edith Okowa, as the former First Lady of Delta State, showed extraordinary kindness and empathy. She reached out to women, children, and the indigent with impactful support, ranging from health care and educational interventions to business grants. She also facilitated the payment of hospital bills for numerous patients who had been detained after discharge due to an inability to pay.
Highlighting her sustained commitment to humanitarian service, even after leaving office, Prof. Nwugo noted that Dame Okowa’s selfless dedication to the people at the grassroots remains unforgettable. He emphasized that both the Ika nation in particular and Delta State in general are fortunate to have a woman of such humility, compassion, and unwavering empathy in their midst.
Prof. Nwugo further stated that the former First Lady has consistently demonstrated, through her various initiatives, that genuine compassion is not found in mere rhetoric but in heartfelt action grounded in true kindness.
