“Manager confirms group decision as Oborevwori, key PDP figures cross to APC” ~ Truth Reporters

The Pioneer Chairman of Delta State People's Democratic Party ( PDP), Senator James Manager has said that the decision of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other key party stakeholders to defect to the All Progressives Congress ( APC) was a collective one
Manager said the decision , a massive political realignment that sent shock waves across the entire length and breath of Delta , was taken in consultation with various stakeholders across the state PDP family
Announcing the defection of the Governor and the entire PDP stakeholders after an exhaustive meeting of the PDP at Government House, Asaba , Senator Manager , who represented Delta South Senatorial district at the red chambers of the National Assembly said the defection is an outcome of ongoing consultations which have metamorphosed in the the historic decision
Drawing allusions to the recent PDP Governors meeting at lbadan , Oyo State , wherein they resolved they are not going into coalition with any other party as 2027 approaches, Manager described the situation with the party , which has only 11 Governors , as troubling , stating that the decision of Delta PDP is in the best interest of the party
Lending his voice, Mr Charles Aniagwu , Commissioner for Works ( Rural and Riverine) and Public information , said there was need for a change that will cement the development in the state and to further advance the security and welfare of Deltans
Said Aniagwu ; " With Oborevwori now in APC colours, the South-South,s political map lightens as the new alignment enhances President Bola Tinubu,s re-election, calculus by adding roughly 1.4 million votes to the ruling party"
During the meeting, all stakeholders, leaders and members of the PDP, resolved to join Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, to move to the APC and would be received at a rally by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Cenotaph , in Asaba , on Monday 28th April, 2025
In attendance at the meeting were the state deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme , immediate past Governor and former Vice Presidential candidate of the party , Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, members of the National Assembly , Speaker of the state house of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor , members of the state house of assembly , Commissioners , Party Chairmen across the 25 LGAs , top government functionaries , stakeholders, and leaders , among others
