DELTA MASS DEFECTION: Ezechi Says There's No Cause for Alarm ~ Truth Reporters
The member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon Nnamdi Ezechi, has said there is no cause for alarm over the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other members of the PDP in the state to the APC.
Hon Ezechi, in a chat with this medium, noted that the decision to move in totality was taken after due consultations with critical stakeholders, including the leadership and members of the party at all levels, stressing that it was a unanimous decision.
He said the crisis in the PDP at the national level had impacted adversely on states controlled by the party, including Delta, and it would be unreasonable to remain in a party with a bleak future ahead of the 2027 elections.
The Lawmaker explained that the Governor remained the political leader of the state, and would be able to deal with the outcomes of the defection in a manner that would be beneficial to the existing APC members and the new entrants.
Hon Ezechi said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had shown capacity in the delivery of the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration and the entry of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the APC would boost the actualization of Tinubu's vision and ensure further development of the state.
He debunked fears of any possible implosion in Delta APC under Oborevwori's watch, expressing confidence that the party would now be better strengthened and more united ahead of the 2027 general election.
