The Urhobo Youth Council Worldwide has  staunchly condemned the heinous act that resulted in the devastating loss of 16 military personnel along the river bank of Okuama community in Ewu Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Asaba, President of the Urhobo Youth Council, Comrade Godspower Enerho, vehemently denounced this act of aggression perpetrated by unidentified gunmen at Okuama Community.

He said: "Our hearts are heavy with sorrow over this senseless violence, which not only claimed the lives of brave officers and soldiers but also inflicted profound grief and anguish upon their families and communities.

"The killing of these 16 military officers represents a direct assault on the very fabric of our society and constitutes a grave affront to the values of peace, unity, and respect for law and order.

"We urgently call upon all parties involved in the communal clash over the land dispute to immediately cease hostilities and embrace dialogue as the sole path towards achieving a lasting resolution.

"The loss of lives and properties, particularly those of our dedicated soldiers, serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences wrought by violence and conflict.

"It is imperative that a thorough and impartial investigation be conducted to identify and apprehend those responsible for this reprehensible act. Justice must be served for the fallen soldiers and their grieving families, and the perpetrators must be held accountable for their actions to the fullest extent of the law.

"In this moment of profound tragedy, let us come together as a community to mourn the loss of our heroes and to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to peace and reconciliation. We must steadfastly reject the vicious cycle of violence and instead labor tirelessly to construct bridges of understanding and cooperation among conflicting parties.

The Urhobo Youth Council implores all stakeholders, including government authorities, traditional leaders, and community representatives, to prioritize the restoration of peace and stability in the affected areas. We stand ready to provide our unwavering support and assistance in any capacity necessary to facilitate dialogue and promote reconciliation.

"Let us honor the memory of the fallen soldiers by embracing the enduring values of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect. Together, let us resolve to overcome this tragedy and build a future wherein all members of our community can live in harmony and prosperity.

"I appeal to the military: in your pursuit of justice and security, please do not let vengeance cloud your judgment. Show mercy to those who are innocent and extend a hand of compassion to those who are suffering. Let us work together to heal our wounds and rebuild trust within our communities.

"Your role as protectors of our nation is invaluable, but it is equally important to uphold the values of empathy and humanity. Let us strive to be symbols of hope and healing, even in the face of adversity." he stated.
