How YAGEP exposed me to business opportunities – Akpobaro

Christian Akpobaro hails from Ughelli North LGA. He has an OND in Marketing. He enrolled, trained and was established in Piggery in the 2016/2017 YAGEP cycle. He is the CEO of Tejiri Farm located in Agbarho. Six years later, he shares his story.

"Before YAGEP, I supplied sand to people, but I was not making much money from it. So, I decided to enroll into STEP. I was trained and established in piggery by the state government.  Since then, life has become better for me and my family.

 "YAGEP has impacted my children's education greatly. With this business, I pay my children’s school fees conveniently. Secondly, the knowledge I acquired through YAGEP training has greatly impacted my business. I now know how to run a piggery efficiently for maximum productivity. I have one employee.

"From my business, I acquired a motor bike and a 100 by 100 plot of land to cultivate cassava which I harvest and sell from time to time to increase my income. In spite of the challenge of swine flu, I thank God I am still in business. I also diversified into sales of granites, sand, land and into general property management. YAGEP was the push I needed to explore other opportunities of business.

“I have one employee and 11 very big pigs in stock. I sold my pigs recently. I sell each pig N350, ‪000 .00‬ to N400, 000.00 depending on the size. I make a lot of profit and this enables me to provide for my family.

"This is the first time in my life that I have personally felt the impact of the government, so I really appreciate the governor and the Job Creation Bureau for what they have done so far."
