Isoko leaders restate support for Okowa's stronger Delta vision ~ Truth Reporters

Leaders of Isoko Ethnic Nationality have vowed to remain steadfast towards Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's vision of building a Stronger Delta.


The President General of Isoko Development Union (IDU), Prof. Chris Akpotu, who spoke on behalf of the Isoko Ethnic Nationality, stated this on Tuesday during an interfacing meeting with Traditional Rulers and Opinion Leaders of Isoko Ethnic Nationality, convened by the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Rural and Community Development, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro, PhD. 


According to him, “Let me specially thank His Excellency, our people oriented Governor of Delta State for creating the Office of the Special Adviser on Rural and Community Development, which has created opportunity for the government and the people in the grassroots to smoothly interact.


“This interfacing no doubt is key to the actualization of the Governor Okowa's Stronger Delta vision.


“For us particularly in Isoko nation, we have become beneficiaries of the government of the day, both in terms of appointment and infrastructural development; most especially in the establishment of the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro. So we are quite happy in the conduct of the State's governance so far, as it positively affect the Isokos in general”, he said.




Going further, Prof Chris stressed that ‘Provision of a Gas Turbine to properly light up Isoko nation, Relocation of the former Delta State Polytechnic Ozoro to another part of Isoko and Completion of the Isoko Axis of the Ughelli-Asaba Express Way’ are the major developmental agenda of the Isoko Ethnic Nationality.


Earlier in his speech, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural and Community Development, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro, PhD restated the determination of the state government to carry the people at the grassroots level along in the governance of the State.


Dr. Okoro said the visit of Isoko Ethnic Nationality was in line with the Smart Agenda and Prosperity For All Deltans vision of the Okowa's led administration.


He noted that the mandate of his team was to reassure the people of the prevalence of good governance in every part of the State.


“Reassuring the good people of Isoko of the prevalence of good governance, my team is to specifically identify the ‘broad development agenda’ of the Isoko Ethnic Nationality and also to advice the Governor in that regard”, Okoro stated.


The meeting which was hosted by Chairman of the Isoko Traditional Rulers Council and Odiologbo of Oleh Kingdom, HRM W.A.O Ovrawha (JP), FCAI Omogha 1, at the Traditional Rulers Conference Hall in Isoko Unity House, was also graced by the Odiologbo of Owhe Kingdom, HRM Inana Romanus Ejerememe (JP) Okpuzo 1;  HRM Isaac Udogri (JP) Odhebe Odhiwhu 1, the Ovie of Uzere Kingdom and HRM Felix Agbagbe (JP) Ekpolo 11, the Ovie of Okpe-Isoko Kingdom.





Hon. Chief Iduh Amadhe, Patron of Isoko Development Union, the First Vice and Second Vice President of Isoko Development Union, Prince Ogbaudu & Chief Dan Odhomor; and College of Executive Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants on Community Development to the Governor who accompanied the Special Adviser were also present.
