Friday 1st of October, 2021 is a day that the people of Ebor-Orogun will not forget in a hurry as they were gifted a state of the art 4-bedroom lodge built for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), by the President General of Orogun Kingdom, Chief Benson Ndakara (Esq.).

The donation can best be described as a fitting birthday give away to put an end to the perennial accommodation problem faced by Corps members posted to Ebor-Orogun Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking during the well-attended inauguration of the facility, amidst elated indigenes of Ebor-Orogun community, Chief Ndakara said that the lodge was conceptualized in response to a needs assessment of the community, which, in his words, “I believe that this would go a long way to address the accommodation challenges faced by corps members posted to the community and this couldn’t have come at a better time than when I am celebrating my birthday which incidentally falls on the day Nigeria is celebrating her 61st Independence Anniversary,"

Chief Ndakara admonished the people of Ebor community to reciprocate the gesture by taking ownership of it by ensuring that the facility is properly maintained.

Principal of Ebor Secondary School, Mrs Linda Eregare, commended the Orogun President General for coming to the aid of the school, stating that “this project will go a long way to ameliorate the plight of Corps members posted to the school.”

Earlier, the President of Ebor Community, Sir Dan Egerega said that “the community is particularly grateful to Chief Benson Ndakara for the kind gesture of constructing the lodge”, noting that it will encourage corps members posted to the community to stay and contribute to the educational development of the community.

In a related development, Mr. Dennis Warri (Esq.), who doubles as Personal Assistant to Chief Benson Ndakara and Project Supervisor, revealed that “Chief Benson Ndakara had built and donated similar project to Aragba-Orogun, his father’s community, some years back before donating this to Ebor-Orogun, his mother’s community,"

He added that the lodge consists of fully furnished 4-bed rooms, a lounge, a kitchenette, a mini water scheme and a perimeter fence to provide security.

Warri assured that the project “will contribute to improving teaching and learning for students of the school because of the complementing roles that Corps members play in Nigerian schools, especially in those critically needed subject teachers owing to shortage of teachers in rural community schools.”
