Inauguration of Appeal Court Asaba yet another milestone - Aniagwu ~ Truth Reporters

The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, has described the commissioning yesterday of the 17th Court of Appeal in Nigeria as yet another milestone of the government of Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.

The Commissioner made the declaration today while speaking to newsmen in his office who came to seek his opinion about the commissioning of the appeal court and the increase in tempo of the incumbent administration delivering laudable projects to every nook and cranny of the state.

According to Mr Aniagwu, the pace with which the appeal court complex was completed within three months was a commitment of the governor to delivering projects that would not only stand the test of time but ensure steady economic development in the state.

He noted that the fore sight of the government to bring justice closer to the people was commendable, observing that any society that was not founded on justice and equity will always have challenges which will in turn impact negatively governance.

He recalled that the President of Appeal Court, Hon. Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa had during the inauguration observed that establishing the court in Asaba was in line with the efforts of the judiciary in ensuring access to justice.

The Commissioner said, “Aside the Court of Appeal providing speedy access to justice in a cost – effective manner, the presence of such a federal institution enhances the profile of the state, create jobs and impact positively on the retail economy.

“It is my expectation that this temple of Justice will stand as a beacon of hope for all – the rich and the poor, the mighty and the lowly, the powerful and the week – who seek refuge and protection under the rule of law”

He remarked that the gains of having such federal institution in Delta State could not be overemphasized, observing that the governor increased the tempo of delivering democratic dividends because he wanted Deltans to benefit as much as possible from good governance.

The information commissioner therefore urged Deltans to continue to live in unity and peace which he noted were the panacea needed to enable the governor continue to execute people oriented projects that he started during his fist tenure.
