2020 Congress: Burutu PDP stakeholders’ meeting ends in deadlock ~ Truth Reporters

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Burutu Local Government Area stakeholders’ meeting on zoning of party offices in the area has ended in a deadlock.

Truth Reporters gathered that the meeting which held in Burutu, could not arrive at a consensus following a sharp disagreement among the various stakeholders.

It would be recalled that as a prelude to the forthcoming 2020 Congress of the PDP, the party had set up Steering Committees at both Ward and Local Government Area Chapters to work out modalities for the conduct of the Congresses which starts in March.

A member of the steering committee and former Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, Chief Ebikeme Clark who spoke to newsmen, noted that the disagreement among the stakeholders was occasioned by interests and the inability to accommodate the various views of other stakeholders.

He maintained that the meeting ended in deadlock as there was no unanimous agreement in the meeting as a certain group in the meeting tried to impose their decision on others which was allegedly greeted with stiff opposition which led to the meeting ending without taking any unanimous position.

According to Clark: “Let It be known by the great leaders of our dear party in the state and beyond that the Burutu Local Government Area Peoples Democratic Party, PDP meeting that was held today in Burutu community, headquarters of the Local Government Area ended inconclusive.

“We did not reach any agreement, the public should be aware of this development. We are also aware that some group of persons are trying to say that we were able to reach an agreement and a position was taken during the meeting which of course there was nothing of such, we will continue to monitor any strange move to report otherwise,“ he said
