Okonta Salutes Widows Support Group’s Grassroots Mobilisation for APC ~ Truth Reporters
Chief Isioma Okonta, Director-General of the Widows Support Group (WSG), has commended members of the organisation for mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Okonta praised the commitment of the group’s coordinators across the three senatorial districts, local government areas and wards, as well as its unit canvassers, in reaching communities across Delta State with the Renewed Hope and M.O.R.E. agenda.
He said the level of mobilisation recorded by the group reflected the determination of its members to promote the programmes of the APC-led governments and secure electoral victory for the party’s candidates in 2027.
“I am encouraged by the level of grassroots mobilisation being undertaken by members of the Widows Support Group across the state. The dedication of our coordinators and unit canvassers shows that our message is reaching communities at the grassroots,” he said.
The WSG director-general also prayed for God’s continued protection, guidance and provision for more than 10,000 widows reportedly enrolled in the state’s monthly social support programme across the 25 local government areas.
He expressed hope that the continuation of Governor Oborevwori’s administration would create opportunities for further expansion of social intervention programmes, particularly those aimed at supporting widows and other vulnerable residents.
Okonta urged members of the organisation to sustain their engagement with communities while ensuring that their political activities remained peaceful, lawful and focused on issues affecting the people.
The Widows Support Group has established a network of coordinators across Delta State’s three senatorial districts, with additional structures at the local government, ward and electoral-unit levels.
According to the group’s leadership, more than 10,000 widows are beneficiaries of the state’s monthly social support programme, while many are also registered under the Delta State Social Health Insurance Scheme.
