Macaulay, Health Commissioner Inspect Owhelogbo Hospital, Seek Urgent Fix ~ Truth Reporters

Former Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG) and the Okiroro of Isoko Nation, Comrade (Chief) Ovuozourie Samuel Macaulay, yesterday led the Delta State Commissioner for Health on an inspection visit to the Owhelogbo Government Hospital in Isoko North Local Government Area to assess the state of facilities and identify the challenges confronting the healthcare institution.

The visit was aimed at ascertaining the condition of several non-functional medical equipment and obtaining firsthand information on the operational difficulties facing members of staff. During the tour of the hospital, the delegation inspected critical departments and interacted with healthcare personnel, who highlighted the need for urgent intervention to improve service delivery.

Speaking during the inspection, Comrade Macaulay stressed the importance of a functional healthcare system, noting that quality medical services remain essential to the wellbeing of residents. He commended the hospital staff for their resilience despite the prevailing challenges and appealed to the state government to expedite action in addressing the identified deficiencies.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health,  Dr Joseph Onojaeme assured the hospital management and staff that the state government would immediately begin the process of addressing the challenges observed during the visit. He acknowledged the concerns raised by the workers and pledged that necessary steps would be taken to restore the hospital's non-functional equipment and improve the facility's operational capacity.

The Commissioner further reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to strengthening healthcare delivery across Delta State, emphasizing that government remains determined to provide quality and accessible medical services to all communities. He added that the findings from the inspection would guide prompt interventions at the hospital.

Hospital management and members of staff expressed appreciation to Chief Macaulay and the Commissioner for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of the government's concern for the welfare of healthcare workers and the people they serve. They expressed optimism that the assurances given would translate into swift action that would enhance healthcare delivery at the Owhelogbo Government Hospital.
