The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, has attributed the growing influx of investors into the state to the ease of doing business fostered by the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration.
Onyeme stated this on Wednesday while commissioning the Millennium Shopping Complex and Allied Plaza on Okpanam Road, Okpanam, in Oshimili North Local Government Area.
He said the Oborevwori administration had created an enabling environment that has positioned Delta as a preferred destination for investors, leading to increased employment opportunities, expanded commercial activities and accelerated grassroots development.
The Deputy Governor commended the proprietor of the shopping complex, Mr. Francis Aghado, for choosing to invest in his home state, describing the decision as a demonstration of patriotism and commitment to community development.
He urged Nigerians in the diaspora who have excelled abroad to emulate Aghado by bringing their investments home.
"When God blesses a Nigerian, wherever that person may be in the world, it is important to remember home. It is important to remember one's roots, and our brother has demonstrated that today.
"I commend him wholeheartedly. By investing in Nigeria, many citizens will benefit from your success abroad, and our communities will grow into the kind of places we admire in America, Europe and elsewhere," Onyeme said.
He assured existing and prospective investors of the Delta State Government's continued support, stressing that the administration would sustain policies that encourage legitimate businesses to thrive.
In separate remarks, the member representing Oshimili North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwah, and the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community, Social and Humanitarian Development, Hon. Princess Pat Ajudua, praised Aghado for bringing his investment home.
They described the project as a major boost to the local economy and urged other well-meaning Deltans to invest in the state to stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities.
Earlier, the Managing Director of Millennium Shopping Complex and Allied Plaza, Mr. Francis Aghado, said the inauguration marked the realization of a long-held vision.
He explained that the complex was designed to cater to a wide range of businesses through the provision of shops of different sizes, expressing optimism that it would create new business opportunities, strengthen partnerships and contribute to the economic prosperity of the community.
