Dire consequences await APC if Mutu seeks 8th term as Bomadi/Patani Rep, stakeholder warns ~ Truth Reporters

A political analyst from Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, Mr. Christopher Anthony, has alleged that over 90 percent of the people of the constituency, including Hon. Nicholas Mutu’s kinsmen from Bomadi Local Government Area, are dissatisfied with his continued representation since 1999.

Anthony took a swipe at Mutu, stating categorically that there are no verifiable constituency projects to justify the federal lawmaker’s 27 years in office as representative of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency.

Speaking on Arise News “The Morning Show,” monitored on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from Warri, Delta State, the political analyst questioned how a lawmaker representing his people at the federal level could operate without a constituency office since 1999, thereby depriving the people he represents the opportunity to channel their pressing needs through an accessible platform.

Anthony accused Hon. Mutu of manipulating the political system to perpetuate himself in office under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he has remained the party’s flagbearer for the constituency since 1999. He stated that “the system continues to impose this man, who has never enjoyed the genuine support of the people of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, on the electorate.”

He further noted that the growing wave of protests across the constituency signals widespread agitation for a change in representation and for Patani Local Government Area, which he described as marginalized within the federal constituency, to produce the next House of Representatives member in the 2027 general elections.

According to him, “He (Mutu) has not done anything spectacular considering the number of years he has spent in office representing the people of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency. There are no bills or even motions attributable to him that have significantly bettered the lives of the people since 1999. His over 10-year stint as Chairman of the House Committee on NDDC benefitted us in no visible way. There is no single tangible project on ground.

“We are being tactically underdeveloped by his actions and inactions as our representative. The point here is that his long stay in the National Assembly has not translated into the expected level of development for the constituency. We believe he has reached his peak and should take a bow to allow others with fresh ideas to emerge.”

The political analyst warned that there could be mass voter backlash in Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency if Mutu insists on contesting for an eighth term under the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that the political consequences for the ruling party could be severe.

According to him, recent protests and public reactions across the constituency clearly indicate that many constituents no longer want Mutu to continue as their representative in the House of Representatives.
