Bomadi/Patani Federal Seat: APC Stalwart Raises Alarm Over Looming Mass Defections to NDC ~ Truth Reporters

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bomadi Local Government Area, Hon. John Feh, has raised concerns over a potential wave of defections from the party in the Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, warning that the situation could significantly reshape the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.

Feh’s warning comes amid growing dissatisfaction over the prolonged occupation of the federal constituency seat by Nicholas Mutu, who has represented the area in the House of Representatives since 1999.

According to the APC stalwart, there are strong indications that party members and grassroots supporters may defect en masse to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), a development he described as “a systemic signal of discontent” rather than a routine political shift.

He cautioned that if urgent steps are not taken, the looming defections could alter the political balance within the constituency and weaken existing party structures.

“The Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency is approaching a critical tipping point that demands immediate and strategic intervention,” Feh stated, adding that the dissatisfaction stems largely from concerns about the quality of legislative representation over the years.

He alleged that despite nearly three decades in office, Mutu is widely perceived to have delivered limited measurable impact in terms of sponsored bills, motions, and constituency-driven initiatives. Feh also cited concerns over the absence of a functional constituency office and what he described as limited engagement with constituents.

The APC chieftain further claimed that the lawmaker’s continued hold on the seat is seen by many as being sustained through political patronage rather than performance or open democratic competition, a perception he said has heightened tensions within the constituency.

“What is unfolding is not an isolated grievance but a coordinated shift driven by a demand for fairness, inclusion, and credible representation,” he said.

Feh warned that a mass defection of this magnitude could create instability in the constituency and have wider implications for the political climate in Delta State if not addressed.

He called on the Delta State Government and relevant stakeholders to act swiftly by promoting transparent, inclusive, and credible political processes, particularly in candidate selection, to restore public confidence.

“The choice is clear: respond decisively to the voice of the people now or face the consequences of a large-scale political realignment,” Feh added.
