Ukah Highlights Oborevwori’s Massive Infrastructure Devt in Delta Capital Territory ~ Truth Reporters

 

The Director-General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA), Chief Patrick Ukah, has lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as deliberate and intentional efforts in transforming the Delta State capital territory through massive infrastructure development. 

Ukah made the remarks on Friday during the inauguration of the newly constructed 4.8-kilometre Oko–Amakom/Oko-Obiokpu and Oko-Anala Road in Oko Kingdom, and the 1.8-kilometre Amaechi–Agusi and adjoining roads in Asaba Kingdom, all within Oshimili South Local Government Area. 

He said the governor’s commitment to improving infrastructure had significantly transformed the capital territory, citing several key road projects completed and ongoing under the administration. 

According to him, during a tour of the capital territory with the governor, Oborevwori personally directed that critical roads in Ibusa town and the Okpanam city centre be reconstructed, a directive that has since been executed successfully. 

Ukah also highlighted other major projects including the resurfacing of the Interbau–Abraka Road and the reconstruction of the Summit Road axis linking Ugbolu and Okpanam. 

He disclosed that the scale of road development in the capital territory had been remarkable, noting that ongoing and completed road projects had surpassed 70 kilometres. 

“Specifically under the Capital Territory Development Agency, we have completed about 50 kilometres of roads and over 20 kilometres of drainage,” Ukah said. 

He added that the number of completed projects was so significant that if the governor chose to commission roads within the capital territory alone, it would take several weeks. 

“If Your Excellency decides to commission roads only in the capital territory, we could easily do one commissioning every week and you may not even have time to visit other local government areas,” he stated. 

Ukah used the occasion to announce that the long-awaited Asagba Road project in Asaba had received approval from the governor and construction would commence soon. 

The DSCTDA boss also spoke on the transformation of the Amaechi Agusi road network, explaining that the area was previously badly affected by erosion and poor road conditions. 

He said the project, which comprises a network of 13 roads located between Koka Junction on the Nnebisi axis of the Asaba–Onitsha Road and the DLA area, had significantly improved accessibility and living conditions for residents. 

According to Ukah, the project was awarded on December 4, 2024, to Digi Ventures and was completed within seven months. 

He described the development as a clear demonstration of responsive governance and urged residents to appreciate the impact of the project. 

“For those who know Amaechi Agusi before now, the area was like a slum due to severe erosion and poor access roads. Today, the transformation is evident, and residents can now access their homes with ease,” he said. 

Ukah assured the governor that the agency remained committed to supporting the administration’s vision for the development of the capital territory and the state at large. 

He reiterated that the agency would continue to work closely with the governor to ensure sustained infrastructure growth and improved living conditions for residents of Asaba and its surrounding communities.
