Disband illegal parallel Hisbah group now, SNYC urges Kano govt ~ Truth Reporters

 

The Southern Nigeria Youths Congress ( SNYC), has appealed to the Kano State government to immediately order the disbandment of a parallel enforcement outfit labelled Hisbah independent Fisabilillahi.

The SNYC also described the emergence of the group as "illegal, unconstitutional, and a very potent tool for escalating the already tense security situation in Kano State ".

Speaking during a press conference at Voyage Hotel, Oregun, Lagos , on Friday December 12, 2025, the body called for urgent government intervention as well as immediate full scale investigation to ascertain the financiers and modus operandi of the illegal parallel Hisbah group

Speaking on behalf of the Congress, SNYC Chairman, Ambassador Timothy Oyetunji , and Secretary , Mr Nurudeen Saliu, frowned at the creation of such a group, warning that such unregulated and illegal body could further escalate the very fragile security situation at a time where issues such as banditry, kidnapping , and terrorism , among other vicious crimes, are threatening the corporate existence of the country .

They further warned that such scenario could pose security dangers, such as possible clashes with duly recognized security agencies, erosion of public trust in legally constituted security outfits as well as circumvention of procedures governing public safety

Said the statement : "Security and enforcement remain the exclusive preserve of constitutionally recognized institutions. Any private or politically aligned group , assuming such powers ,is a clear violation of the rule of law" .

While calling on the Inspector General of Police, the DSS and other security agencies to commence immediate investigation in order to unravel those behind this illegal outfit, the SNYC criticized those political actors latching on the gullibility of some youths who are being recruited into this illegal group .

The SNYC therefore emphasized that "this matter requires swift , transparent and decisive action in the interest of peace and national security and the rule of law across Kano State and Nigeria at large".
