11th GCUOBA NAD: Arco Boss, Okoigun, Bags Lifetime Achievement Award ~ Truth Reporters

The Founder and Group Managing Director of ARCO Group PLC, Engr ( Dr) Alfred Okoigun, has bagged a Lifetime Achievement Award from his Alma mater, Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association ( GCUOBA)

The elated Okoigun, has therefore sent a strong message to all old boys of the school: "Develop more interest in the affairs of your alma mater".

The prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to the ARCO Group founder , during the 11th National Annual Dinner ( NAD) , of the Association held on Saturday October 4th 2025 , at the Orchid Hotels, Asaba , the Delta State Capital.

According to the awardee, "l feel truly encouraged to be found worthy for this prestigious award by my alma mater. It shows that the modest contributions we have been making in support of the growth and development of our alma mater is being recognized. This will spur me to do more for the old boys association, as well as for the benefit of of the students"

Engr ( Dr) Alfred Okoigun , a distinguished old boy of the Class of 1970, said among the benefits of having the national annual dinner, strengthening the bonds brought about by meeting old school mates after a long while , and interacting with them , is a morale and health booster that can't be quantified .

According to the Citation read at the award presentation , ARCO Group PLC, "through its subsidiaries , spanning maintenance and engineering, offshore marine logistics, integrity solutions, aviation training and drone technology ___ARCO has remained a champion of local capacity development. In recognition of its impact, the Group was named LEADERSHIP Oil & Gas Local Content Champion of the year 2024"

The citation further added that , beyond business , Okoigun has invested significantly in human capital development and education, sponsoring hundreds of professionals for international trainings , endowing scholarships at leading institutions , and co-established the NAE-ARCO Academia-Industry Linkage Committee, among others

Okoigun , a Trustee of the Gamaliel & Susan Onosode Foundation ,  is an Honorary Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering , the Nigerian Society of Engineers ( NSE),  the Nigeria Society of Chemical Engineers, and also a Doctor of Engineering ( Honoris Causa) of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources ( FUPRE), Effurun, in Delta State

The Lifetime Achievement Award , was presented to Engr ( Dr) Okoigun, by the President-General Worldwide (PGWW) of GCUOBA, Chief Albert Akpomudje, SAN.
