Ubrurhe Backs Ethiope for 2027 Delta Central Senatorial Seat on Grounds of Equity ~ Truth Reporters

The immediate past Secretary of Ughelli South local government area, Mr Joseph Ubrurhe, has stated that for peace, justice and equity, the Ethiope bloc should be allowed to produce the next Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial districts , at the 2027 general elections

Ubrurhe, who was strident that the next Senator from the district should come from either Ethiope East or Ethiope West local governments , hinged his  position on the rotation principle

Reacting to a publication titled "Don't fall for Okpe-Okpe Myth : Urhobo Unity Demand,s Dafinone,s Return to Senate", credited to one Wilson Okorugbo, a political analyst from Ughelli, the former Ughelli South SLG, described the publication as not only misleading , but replete with divisive undertones which require clarification for the sake of peace, fairness , and unity in Delta Central

According to the former Ughelli South Council Scribe, while going down memory lane, Nigeria , since the beginning of the 4th Republic in 1999, has operated on a principle of rotation and fair sharing, both at the national and sub-national levels , thus Delta Central Senatorial districts is not an exception

Ubrurhe said the district is divided into three political blocs , namely Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu ( 3U), Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie ( OSU), and Ethiope East and Ethiope West (2E), respectively .

He added that during the tenure of His Excellency , Chief James Onanefe Ibori who hails from Ethiope West ( 2E), no Senator from that bloc represented Delta Central . In the same vein , Ubrurhe argued, since Governor Sheriff Oborevwori comes from the OSU bloc, it is only right , that in the spirit of fairness and equity, and logically so, the next Senate seat should move to the Ethiope East and Ethiope West  ( 2E) axis

Said the former Ughelli South Council SLG on why it matters ; "Rotational arrangements are not about sentiment but about justice and inclusion . The same principle is currently guiding the national argument that the South must complete its eight ( 8) years before power returns to the North . Denying this principle at the local.level would send a dangerous signal-that some groups are permanently excluded from leadership. That is unacceptable"

Ubrurhe concluded by stating unequivocally : "Our unity as Urhobo people must never be sacrificed on the altar of selfish politics . Delta Central has capable leaders in all its blocs . Rotation guarantees that every section is carried along. Any attempt to derail this arrangement, is not only unfair but dangerous to our collective future"
