ISSS Inducts New Members, Honours Dr. Olotu Akpodiete ~ Truth Reporters

 

The Institute of Security and Strategic Studies (ISSS), Abuja, has inducted new members into its fold, including Dr. Olotu Otemu Akpodiete, Executive Director of the Olotu and Ekuogbe Rowland Akpodiete Foundation. 

The ceremony was held at the Army Resources Center, Asokoro, Abuja.

 

In his welcome address, Chairman of the Governing Council, Major General Garba Audu (Rtd), reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to promoting robust security management rooted in knowledge, strategic foresight, and collaborative action. 

He urged the inductees to bring their expertise to bear in tackling the pressing security challenges facing the country.

 

Delivering the keynote lecture, Guest Speaker Prof. Zara Kwaghe of the Federal University of Lafia emphasized the importance of synergy in intelligence gathering among security agencies. 

She stressed that building trust, eradicating corruption, embracing technology, and institutionalizing community-based intelligence structures are vital in addressing Nigeria’s security issues.

 

Also speaking, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, Commandant of the FCT Command, highlighted the roles of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in safeguarding the nation, while congratulating the new members. 

The Registrar of the institute, Dr. Sunday Idakwoji, commended the inductees and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to national development.

 

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the recognition of Dr. Olotu Otemu Akpodiete, who holds degrees from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, and the Paris Graduate School of Management, France, as well as advanced certifications in terrorism, security, and intelligence studies. 

Through his foundation, Dr. Akpodiete has trained community leaders and vigilantes on conflict resolution and neighborhood security management, in addition to donating communication gadgets to communities in Delta State.

 

Other inductees include Dr. Rosalyn Essien, Dr. David Awak, Mariam Usman, Yakubu Mathias, Fubara Macaulay, Dr. Ebipagmi Ogolo, Kefas Magaji, Dr. Thomas Okirika, and Alex Oware.
