The coalition meeting which had the ADC National Chief Whip, Elder Festus lgbinoba , representing the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, also resolved to strengthen the party at the grassroots levels , up to the Centre, in order to firm up its main opposition grip
The ADC stakeholders coalition meeting which drew a large crowd of party faithful and decampees from the 25 local government areas of the State , were informed by the National Chief Whip , Elder Festus lgbinoba , that the coalition was very much on course to wrestle power from the ruling APC , which he said , had inflicted, and is still inflicting, untold pain and hardship on millions of Nigerians, inspire of all the promises it gave through the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,s "Renewed Hope" agenda
The ADC National Chief Whip , described Delta as the litmus test state to take back the mantle of leadership and return it to the people for their collective good
Earlier in his welcome address , the State Chairman of the ADC, Sir Austin Okolie , expressed delight with the large turn out of party faithful and new members who thronged the PTI conference centre venue of the stakeholders coalition meeting
Represented by the party,s Delta Central Vice Chairman, Sir Obuks Doghor, the State ADC Chairman promised that the party is ready to stand strong in Delta , noting that registration of members into the party has so far being impressive
He therefore tasked all members to return to their various units and wards at the grassroots , and drive home the message of the party which is to change the narrative of the present harsh economic and social realities being suffered by Nigerians
The highpoint of the ADC Delta stakeholders coalition meeting was the formal defection of the G25 political movement of the People's Democratic Party ( PDP) comprising the Labour party , NNPP, and other parties , to the ADC
Responding on behalf of the G25 decampees , a one time House of Representatives aspirant for Ughelli/Udu Federal constituency , Hon ( Arch) Julius Akpovoka , and Mr Fortune Oyadoghan , assured of their readiness to pull more progressive like minds to make a difference in the ADC
Speaking with journalists , Hon Julius Akpovoka , also a one time Councillor and Vice Chairman of Ughelli North local government , said the choice of the PTI conference centre, which birthed the PDP in 1998 when former Governor James lbori , convened a meeting of the defunct Grassroots Democratic Movement ( GDM), which metamorphosed into the PDP under which lbori became Governor at the age of 38, is strategic
According to Hon Akpovoka, as it stands, the ADC is the only opposition party in the entire country and Delta, and as such , Deltans should come out enmasse and register with the ADC to stamp out the misrule in the APC,s governance at all levels
The ADC stakeholders coalition meeting was attended by the party,s 2023 Delta Central Senatorial Candidate , Avworo Marvel, the Ughelli North House of Assembly candidate , Morrison Agofure, ward and LGA Chairmen of the party , among others
