Academics Pledge Loyalty to Oborevwori, Laud Education Reforms ~ Truth Reporters
In a demonstration of solidarity, the Coalition of Academics for Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, led by Prof. Lawrence Omo Aghoja, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari.
The visit provided the academics an opportunity to brief the commissioner on the activities of their group while also expressing appreciation for the governor’s strides in the education sector.
They highlighted Oborevwori’s achievements, including improvements in infrastructure, enhancement of staff welfare, and expansion of institutions such as the Orerokpe Campus.
They also commended his initiatives in establishing new faculties, upgrading polytechnics to universities, and introducing innovative programmes to boost research and development.
According to the coalition, the administration’s efforts in providing modern facilities and equipment, promoting staff development, and widening access to education for disadvantaged students have endeared the governor to the academic community and proven his commitment to educational growth.
Responding, Commissioner Tonukari reminded the coalition that Governor Oborevwori is now a member of the APC and urged them to ensure their support aligns with the party’s interests.
The coalition, however, reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty, declaring that they would “follow the governor anywhere” and remain committed to working with him to actualize his vision for the education sector, irrespective of political affiliations.
