Approval of Flyover at Uromi Junction, Agbor: I’ve Been Vindicated Again — Uzum ~ Truth Reporters
By Johnson Ebigide
Eugene Azuka Uzum has commended the Delta State Government for approving the construction of a flyover at the busy Uromi Junction in Agbor, describing the move as a vindication of his earlier call to address the deteriorating condition of the road in the area.
Uzum, a lawyer and policy analyst, made this known while reacting to the government’s decision to construct two major flyovers—one at Otovwodo Junction in Ughelli North and the other at Uromi Junction in Ika South Local Government Area.
He recalled how his criticism of the deplorable state of the Uromi Junction axis was initially misinterpreted as an attack on the government, adding that his call then was borne out of a genuine concern for the welfare of road users and the need for infrastructural upgrade in the area.
“Many thought I was being unnecessarily critical of the government, but I knew the situation required urgent attention. I’m glad the Governor has proven once again that he listens to constructive criticism,” Uzum stated.
He praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his openness to progressive ideas, noting that this was not the first time the Governor had responded positively to his suggestions on matters of public interest.
Uzum cited his earlier advocacy against age falsification in the state civil service as another instance where his position prompted government action. According to him, following his exposé on the damaging effects of age falsification within the civil service, the state government took decisive steps to identify and remove those involved.
While appreciating the Governor’s responsiveness and commitment to good governance, Uzum, a known youth advocate, also called on the administration to intensify efforts in youth empowerment and job creation across the state. He emphasized that such initiatives would yield immense economic benefits and reduce social vices.
He further reiterated his commitment to speaking up on critical issues, especially those affecting young people, stressing the need for sustained engagement and transparency in governance.
It would be recalled that only a few days ago, Uzum had also debunked reports suggesting that members of the Delta Unity Group (DUG) were planning to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC). He described such claims as misinformation spread by political mischief makers in Ika Federal Constituency.
According to Uzum, the Ika Nation has continued to benefit from the DUG’s push for quality governance, accountability, and responsiveness—principles that are gradually taking root in the state’s political culture.
