Ezechi Marks Two Years in Office, Reaffirms Commitment to Devt of Ndokwa Nation ~ Truth Reporters

 

Honourable Nnamdi Ezechi, Member of the House of Representatives for Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, has marked his second anniversary in office with a reaffirmation of his dedication to the growth and development of the constituency. 

In a statement released on June 13, 2025, Ezechi expressed gratitude to his constituents for their unwavering support and highlighted key achievements in various sectors over the past two years.

 

Ezechi identified education, healthcare, infrastructure, electrification, and youth empowerment as the core focus of his legislative and constituency work. 

On education, he listed multiple infrastructure projects across the three local government areas, including new classroom blocks at Egboma Mixed Secondary School in Akoku Uno, Oluchi Primary School in Okpai, and Mixed Secondary School in Onicha Ukwuani. 

He also disclosed plans for more school projects in 2025, including new classroom blocks in Ebologu Grammar School, Ethiope Primary School, Oduga Secondary School, and Onuaboh Secondary School. Laptops were also distributed to selected secondary schools to promote digital literacy.

 

On social infrastructure, Ezechi revealed the award and mobilisation of the contractor for the reconstruction of the collapsed Asaba-Ase to Uzere bridge in Ndokwa East through collaboration with the Delta State Government. 

Other accomplishments include the completion of Azunze Market in Kwale and installation of solar-powered streetlights in several communities. He further announced plans to extend solar lighting and provide solar-powered water boreholes to underserved areas like Abbi.

 

In the area of healthcare, Ezechi facilitated the inclusion of a new health centre in Utchi, Ndokwa East, in the NDDC budget. He also unveiled a medical outreach initiative targeting the elderly in rural communities, offering free checkups, drugs, and screenings for common age-related illnesses.

 

The legislator also highlighted efforts in human capital development, detailing empowerment programmes in partnership with federal agencies. Youths have been trained in ICT, soap-making, and confectionery, with participants receiving start-up grants and equipment. Thirty youths were empowered through the National Directorate of Employment’s Renewed Hope Employment Initiative. These programmes, Ezechi said, will be expanded in 2025 to reach more beneficiaries.

 

On electrification, he emphasized the revival of the stalled IPP Phase 2 project in Okpai. He noted that 22 out of 47 transmission towers on the Okpai–Kwale 132KV line have already been erected and that the Transmission Company of Nigeria is preparing to resume construction. Additionally, his intervention led to federal approval for the reinforcement of 33KV lines in several parts of Ndokwa land.

 

In his legislative role, Ezechi celebrated the House’s passage of his bill for the establishment of a Federal Medical Centre in Kwale, which is now being repurposed into a bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences Teaching Hospital. This bill will run concurrently with another for the university itself, which is currently operational by executive order but awaiting full legal backing.

 

Ezechi also pointed to federal intervention on the Obiaruku–Obinomba–Ebedei–Umutu Road following a motion he sponsored. He confirmed that reconstruction is underway, with substantial progress already made.

 

Reflecting on his journey, Ezechi reiterated his unwavering commitment to championing the interests of his constituents. He pledged to continue working with the Delta State Government, stakeholders, and community members to deliver impactful projects and ensure that the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency experiences sustained progress and development.
