Chief Patrick Ukah, Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, has been elected as a Council Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

The election took place during the Institute's Annual General Meeting held at Ceedapeg Hotels in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Ukah emerged victorious alongside sixteen others, joining the highest decision-making body of the NIPR.

For the first time in the Institute’s history, the election was conducted electronically on May 22, 2025, during the AGM.

A total of 738 members were accredited, with 518 casting their votes — a 71% voter turnout. Out of 20 screened candidates, 17 contested while three withdrew from the race.

NIPR President Dr. Ike Neliaku was re-elected with 518 votes; the Vice President received 468 votes, and Ukah secured 422 votes.

Elder Emma Ogidi, a senior fellow of the Institute, remarked that Ukah’s election “strategically positions the Delta State Chapter in the national scheme of affairs.” He added that Ukah’s tenure would accelerate the chapter’s development.
