NIPR key to advancing good governance in Nigeria – Patrick Ukah ~ Truth Reporters

Patrick Ukah, Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, has emphasized the pivotal role of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in fostering good governance across the country.

Addressing attendees at the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the NIPR in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Ukah—former Secretary to the Delta State Government and two-time Commissioner—described public relations as more than a communication tool, calling it a vital framework for promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in government.

He hailed NIPR as a catalyst for institutional effectiveness, stressing that the expertise of PR professionals should be embedded in every stage of government policy formulation and implementation to ensure meaningful impact for citizens.

“NIPR is a cornerstone of any democratic society. Its practitioners bridge the gap between government and citizens, ensuring programs are well understood, properly implemented, and widely accepted,” Ukah said.

Renowned for revitalizing the Delta State chapter of the institute, Ukah expressed strong support for the leadership of Dr. Ike Neliaku and pledged to align with that vision if elected to the NIPR national council.

Leveraging his extensive public service experience, Ukah promised to bring reform-driven leadership to the council and champion the continued professionalization of public relations within Nigeria’s public sector.
