The Ogwashi-uku People's Democratic Party Leaders and Elders   Forum ( OPDPLEF) led by elder statesman , Chief A.C Okocha, have thrown their weight behind Governor Sheriff Oborevwori , former Governor lfeanyi Okowa, and other stakeholders decision to the defect to the All Progressives Congress ( APC) , from the ruling People's Democratic Party ( PDP) in Delta State.

The political pressure group described the move by Oborevwori , as timely and for the betterment of all Deltans, therefore resolving to follow suit.

The resolution was reached at an emergency meeting of the group , held on Friday 27th April 2025, at  ACOM House , the country home of it's National Chairman , Chief A.C Okocha.

Members of the Ogwashi-Uku People's Democratic Party Leaders and Elders Forum ( OPDPLEF), were unanimous in their conclusion, that aligning with the APC led Federal Government will attract more development to Delta State in general, and Ogeashi-Uku kingdom in particular.

In his opening remarks at the enlarged emergency meeting , National Chairman and elder statesman, Chief A.C Okocha, said there was the imperative need for OPDPLEF to support the decision of the entire PDP family in the state to align with the APC , in view of the seeming intractable unresolved squabbles at the national level of the PDP where the issue of who is the authentic National Secretary , inability to convene NEC meetings for over a year , posed serious dangers to the party,s preparedness to contest the 2027 general elections.

Okocha also stressed the need for unity and reconciliation arising from perceived  differences that emanated from the 2023 general elections , with a view to speak as one united family , going forward.

In their separate remarks , a one time member of the House of Representatives representing Aniocha/ Oshimili federal constituency and Deputy National Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Hon Pascal Nwaoronine Adigwe, and member representing Aniocha South constituency in the state house of Assembly, Hon Isaac Anwuzia, hailed the decision of Governor Oborevwori , former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, and indeed the entire stakeholders of the PDP in the state , to move to the APC as in the best interest of Deltans and Ogwashians.

After a unanimous resolution to not only support the defection but also move enmasse to join the APC in Ogwashi-Uku, a unanimous vote of confidence was passed in Governor Oborevwori.

Among those present st the meeting were former Aniocha South PDP Chairmen , Sir Peter Okwe, Prince Mike Okwufulueze, Leader of the Aniocha South Legislative Arm, Hon Leonard Nzemeke, Councillors of the Ogwashi- Uku wards , former ODU President, Sir Emma Okafor, among others
