Delta Poly Rector bags Niger Delta Youth Council of Nigeria Merit Award ~ Truth Reporters

For being a "Rector of lnestimable Value to the Niger Delta Youth, in special recognition of your good leadership qualities, your students friendly nature, as well as your humble and detribalized lifestyle", the Rector of Delta State Polytechnic , Ogwashi uku, Bldr Professor Emmanuel Achuenu, has bagged a Merit Award, courtesy of the Niger Delta Youth Council of Nigeria
The award, which also took into consideration, Achuenu,s giant infrastructural and industrial harmony as well as human capital development strides since his assumption of office on August 1, 2021, was presented at the Conference hall of the Polytechnic on behalf of the group by Comrade Ufuoma Victor Erharhine
According to the Niger Delta Youth Council of Nigeria President, Comrade Erharhine, the body whose membership is made up of youths in the Niger Delta states of Nigeria who are unanimous in meritocracy by public office holders
While commending the recipient of the association,s Merit Award, Bldr Professor Emmanuel Achuenu for his unparalleled disposition to team work and judicious use of resources which has translated in the giant developmental strides recorded at Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi uku, the Niger Delta Youth Council of Nigeria President , urged Achuenu to see his recognition by the body as a spur for more impact in all spheres of endeavour at DSPG
In an acceptance speech after receiving the prestigious award which comprised of a medal representing the group,s acceptance of his person ( the second after NDLEA Boss Gen Buba Marwa to be so bestowed), and the Merit Award plaque, a delighted Professor Achuenu , dedicated the award to his entire management team whose collective unity of purpose mindset had engendered the modest successes he has recorded since assumption of duty as Rector of the Delta State Polytechnic , Ogwashi uku
He informed the Niger Delta youth body that the Polytechnic which is one of the foremost among its peers in and outside Nigeria , is an institution where technology and knowledge are applied simultaneously
The DSPG Rector who announced that a "Two certificates per student" policy has already taken effect and is being vigorously keyed into , commended the Delta State government under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund ( TETFUND), and other support agencies , for being part of the success story so far recorded in the institution under his watch
On projects executed with internally generated revenue , Achuenu listed the completed 325 capacity lecture hall with offices and conveniences powered by solar , the completed lawn tennis and basketball courts at the sports complex, purchase of science and laboratory equipments to meet NBTE accreditation , and the Polytechnic guest house project still ongoing , among others
He said the 24/7 illumination of the campus, the first ever , has not only added beauty to the environment, but has also boosted the security architecture of the institution , with students having a sense of security of their lives and property
The DSPG Rector also listed other achievements to include staff development where , through lGR and TETFUND, trainings such as workshops , seminars and post graduate activities have been undergone , the climax of it being that the Polytechnic currently boasts of not less than 40 PHD holders
He expressed optimism that the Environmental Science Complex which has reached advanced stage of above 80 percent completion, the Library complex, Multi purpose theatre , and perimeter fencing projects being handled at various stages of completion through TETFUND, will be completed along with extension of access roads undertaken by the Oborevwori administration , in no distant time
Present at the Merit Award presentation ceremony were DSPG management led by the Registrar Mr Jude Okocha and the Niger Delta Youth Council of Nigeria Exco members
