UI Alumni Public Service Lecture Holds June 23 In Asaba ~ Truth Reporters

"The highly prestigious University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) Asaba Chapter's Annual Public Service Lecture is a big deal and those in the public service world place enormous value in the event because of its robust nature and content."

The above statements were the first comments made by Dr. (Mrs.) Felicia Adun, FNES JP, Chairman, University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA), Asaba Chapter, while briefing journalists on the readiness of the Chapter to hold the 2022 Annual Public Service Lecture in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Dr Adun disclosed that the 2022 UIAA Annual Public Service Lecture, with the theme, “REVITALISING UNIVERSITY EDUCATION: The Leadership Question”, would be delivered by the Vice Chancellor of the Admiralty University of Nigeria (ADUN), Professor Paul  Omaji, under the distinguished Chairmanship of Dr. Mordi Ononye, Hon. Commissioner for Health, Delta State, and would be moderated by Hon. Omordi George Ugbomah, former Chairman, Board of Governing Council, Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-uku.

The date for the lecture which has been slated to hold at The Press Centre, Government House, Asaba, is Thursday, June 23, 2022.

According to the Chairman of the Asaba Chapter of the UIAA, the Special Guest of Honour would be His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor, Delta State, while the guest of honour would be His Excellency, Dcn. (Barr.) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Deputy Governor of the state,

She added that the Royal Father Of the Day would be Obi Chief  Onyeobi, the Iyasere of Asaba and the Spiritual Father of the Day would be Rev'd. Can. Prof. Akpodiete, O. J, Vicar, Chapel Of The Resurrection, Dennis Osadebe University (DOU) Asaba.

Dr. (Mrs.) Adun, who called on the public to attend the lecture which, according to her, promised to be quite educating and informative, admonished that alumni should remember their alma mater with a view to assisting the school that made them.

"The relationship between old students and their former schools is analogous to the relationship between a father and his children.  When the father is old, the children come back to assist. This is an open invitation to all UI alumni in Delta State to grace this year public service lecture. Alumni can as well bring their spouses and children to the occasion. They should know that they are obligated to remember the university that made them. So, they are expected at this annual public service lecture," she said.

While enjoining members of the association to be very committed towards the success of the lecture, she noted that UIAA was their pride.

“Let us lift the banner of UIAA high with pride and dignity. Every UI alumnus should get involved in the forthcoming public service lecture being put together by UIAA

“God bless you all,” said the Asaba Chapter's Chairman of the UIAA.
