Peace, Transparency Depicts PDP Delegates Election ~ Truth Reporters

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have continued to uphold the tenets of transparency and fairness as demonstrated yesterday in its election of ad hoc delegates.

Ahead of the party's primaries, the elected delegates will play integral roles in the eventual emergence of the party’s flag bearers at all levels for the 2023 general elections.

Simultaneously held across the federation, the election was observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and the media.

Monitored by our correspondent in Oshimili South Local Government Area, the election was adjudged to be peaceful, free and transparent in all the wards visited by the Local Government Party Chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji.

Addressing newsmen after the exercise, Ogbueshi Okonji commended the leadership of the party and the state governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, for ensuring a level playground for the delegates to emerge.

Ogbueshi Okonji urged Deltans to remain united in the PDP, even as he expressed optimism that the party would emerge victorious at all levels in the 2023 general elections.

The ward chairmen, who spoke with our reporter, including Ogbueshi Nnamdi Chukwuedo (Eight), Martin-West Udensi (Ten), Hon Mike Ebenuwa (Four), Hon Anthony Okocha (Five) and Hon Austin Mgbeze (Nine), were unanimous in their verdict of the exercise.

Likewise, the Chairman of Ward 11, Hon Afam Uzor, said that the peace that characterized the election in his jurisdiction, as with other wards, was a clear manifestation of the unity of the party.

Meanwhile, the election produced at least one woman for every three ad hoc delegates elected to represent each ward respectively in line with the party’s Constitution.
