Ebonka tasks Ika residents on environmental sustainability ~ Truth Reporters

The Chairman of Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Victor Ebonka, has called on residents to see the cleaning up of their environment as a responsibility that must be embraced.

Hon. Ebonka made the call during a meeting with members of the Private Sector Participants (PSP) on waste management in his office at Owa-Oyibu, headquarters of the Local Government Area.

According to him, "we shall continue to seek and  engage strategies on how to engender clean and healthy environment in the locality."

" Residents should take it as a personal responsibility to ensure that our environment is clean, healthy and safe. We must graduate from the attitude of waiting for government to do everything for us," he stated.

Continuing, Ebonka enjoined residents to stop disposing their refuses in unauthorised areas, warning that the council would not hesitate to take whoever was caught doing so to the police or the court. 

While commending members of the environmental committee team, he urged the public to cooperate with them and charged members of  the Ika Private Sector Participants (PSP) to return back to their various zones and help restore door to door evacuation of waste.

Continuing, the council chairman said that for his administration to properly achieve a cleaner and healthier environment, a committee headed by the Head Of Department (HOD), Environmental Health, would be set up to thoroughly review the situation and design a template for effective restoration of the services of the PSP operators and enforcement of environmental policies in the locality.
