2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Let’s work to enthrone peace - Iteire urges Nigerians ~ Truth Reporters

Isoko North Council Chairman, Deacon Christian Iteire has called on Nigerians to desist in fanning the embers of disunity but work to ensure peace for the overall development of the nation, Nigeria.

Iteire made the call in his keynote address at this year’s Armed Forces Rememberance day celebration held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Council Secretariat in Ozoro 

According to him, the Armed Forces remembrance celebration was a way to “honour those great and gallant Nigerians whose bravery, valour, unbridled spirit of patriotism, blood and toil, helped water the trees and fountains of our unity and cords of brotherhood “

Paying tribute to the fallen heroes, the Isoko North Council Boss alluded to Mark 10:45, saying that,the fallen soldiers by “ accepting the singular patriotic act of preserving the nation’s territorial integrity paid the ultimate price with their lives for the freedom and peace we enjoy today were not compromised”

He called for caution by enjoining Nigerians to restrain from agitations that would create alienation and disaffection but strive hard to create a nation of equal opportunities, where the “building blocks remain our common humanity, where ethnoreligious passions are subsumed by the ennobling ideas of tolerance and diversity of ideas, culture and ethos “

Iteire expressed optimism that it is only when there’s guaranteed equality of aspirations and a level playing field for all and sundry that the conflicts that saw the gallant soldiers sacrificing their lives would “be replaced by a sweet symphonies of love, brotherhood and oneness”

Highpoints of the memorial celebration of the fallen heroes were a launch of the Armed Forces Remembrance Emblems, a brief solemn service, prayer sessions for the Nation, Nigeria, Delta State and Isoko North Local Government Area, an inspection of guard of honour mounted by members of the Nigerian Legion, Isoko North Chapter by the Council Chairman, laying of wreathes amongst others.

The event was witnessed by the Leader of the Isoko North Legislative Arm, Hon Francis Udubra, Councilors, Hons Abel Godwin and Samuel Okogbe, the Secretary to the Local Government Council, Hon Ejoor Igbuduma, the Head of Personnel Management, Barr Henry Obukoewho, the Divisional Police Officer, Ozoro, Superintendent Ogedegbe, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Isoko North Chapter, Canon Okuda, Supervisors, Prince Enakeno Ogbo, Mark Ekakitie, Samuel Irori and Oghogho Ikrumale,  chief Press Secretary to the chairman, Ajirioghene Oreh, heads of Departments and staff of the Council, including the Mrs Kome Ezoh
