Aziza gets UPU's award ~ Truth Reporters

 





The renowned Professor of African Phonology and former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Delta State University, Abraka, Prof (Mrs) Roseline Oro Aziza, today, Friday, 3rd December, 2021 received the award of the distinguished Urhobo daughter at the 90th anniversary ceremony of the oldest sociocultural organisation in Africa, the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU.


The President General of the Union, Olorogun Dr. Moses Taiga commended Aziza who is the head of the Urhobo Studies Association, USA for championing the development of the Urhobo language to meet up with modern realities, especially, the production of the Urhobo Language Curriculum for Basic and Secondary Education in Delta State.





Aziza dedicated the award to members of the USA and called on lovers of Urhobo to support the following ongoing projects of the Association (i) Production of Urhobo Language Glossary (ii) Sponsorship of annual workshops for Urhobo language teachers in primary and secondary Schools (iii) Employ graduates of the BA Linguistics/Urhobo Studies to teach the language in schools and (iv) Sponsor annual Urhobo essay writing competition across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
