The League Advocates Aggressive Reportage Of Okowa's Achievements ~ Truth Reporters

By Patrick Ochei

As part of its critical focus to mount surveillance on the society, the League of Professionals for Strategic Advocacy (LPSA) has visited the Delta Broadcasting Service, DBS Asaba, where it advocated for aggressive reportage of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's physical achievements so far.

Speaking on behalf of the members, Tuesday 19th January, 2021, the Convener of the group and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Orientation and Communication, Prince Obaro Unuafe posited that Governor Okowa had been under reported, adding that such would not be allowed to subsist now that the League had stepped up to do the needful.

He said most States usually claim to have done so much within their State capitals alone, but that such cannot be compared to Delta State with multiplicity of cities like Asaba, Agbor, Ughelli, Warri, Sapele and others.

According to him, if what Okowa had achieved in this past five years plus was adequately reported, most of the opposition politicians wouldn't have had any other choice but to relocate from Delta to other States.

Obaro acknowledged that the media can lift and bring down, appealing that all stakeholders should endeavour to actively activate the use of the media to inform and enlighten the populace of the enormous achievements of the Delta State Government under Senator Okowa that eyes have not seen nor ears heard.

Earlier, the Interim  chairman of the League and Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr. Pius Mordi had given the GM and management team of DBS Asaba the profile of The League and how it intends to be a force to interrogate every political aspirant within the State and beyond before they take up leadership positions.

He averred that the group stands as a combination of vision, drive and execution of credible agenda for the next generation of political leaders.

Responding, the General Manager of DBS Asaba, Mr. Frankwhyte Osabohien congratulated the group for remaining resolute and committed in propagating its ideals, affirming that he knew about the group when it first came on board before 2019.

His words, "What you are doing is a great job for the progress of our dear State. Be rest assured that DBS will identify with this group for the good of our dear State.

"DBS is one of the greatest assets inherited from Bendel State and there is no doubt that we are living up to our mandate.

"Let me quickly advise that beyond engaging in Project Delta and interrogating those aspiring to lead in 2023, you must ensure that the overall interest after navigating this process remains the peace and unity of Delta State. We must be guided by the overall interest of Delta State. Let me again assure you that this visit will in a long time remain in the inner recesses of my mind", the GM posited.

In a nutshell, the Board Chairman of DBS Asaba and bonafide member of The League, Comrade Felix Ofou appreciated the group for visiting, while promising to create a platform that would make such august visit a regular one.
