ALGON sets up committee to review health centre projects ~ Truth Reporters

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) on Monday inaugurated a seven-member committee to review contract performance for the building of health centres in the country.

The committee headed by Delta ALGON Chairman, Hon. Itiako Ikpokpo, is to review, ascertain and authenticate the veracity of the award of contract to build and equip health centres in each of the 774 within two weeks.





A statement signed by the Special Assistant, Media to the National President, Obiora Orji, said "NEC at an exhaustive meeting via Zoom presided over by the National President, Hon. Kolade Alabi, approved the inauguration of the committee.

"Other members of the committee are: Hon. Aminu Muazu- Nasarawa; Hon. Shehu Sarki - Kebbi; Hon. Solomon Onah - Enugu; Hon. Semi Bola Lawal - Ogun; Hon. Jingi Rufai - Adamawa and Hon. Binta Bello, Secretary General.

"The Committee's mandate is to ascertain the veracity and level of work done, confirm from all 774 LGAs/Councils and contractor both pictorial and written evidence of job execution and to review the process of certification and payment and report back to NEC in two weeks."

The statement further said: "While ALGON appreciates the necessity at that time of such a noble project, this current NEC insists that ALGON National will no longer be a contract awarding organisation, while focusing on the stability and service delivery of policy and development to the local governments/councils process." he said.
